POLICE warned people to stay away from the RAF Brize Norton after diesel leaked onto farmland.

Writing on Twitter last night Thames Valley Police West Oxon wrote: "Public message. There has been a diesel spillage from RAF Brize Norton site onto land occupied by the Time Out Animal Sanctuary.

"RAF personnel are deployed to clean-up the area and deal with the spillage. Please avoid the area."

The farmer who's land has been swamped with oil has now made an urgent plea for hay.

RAF Brize Norton also warned neighbours to 'be aware' after the incident and said officers were working with 'external agencies' to deal with the spillage.

Responding on Twitter one user said it wouldn't be an 'easy' clean-up while others were concerned the leak might pollute the Shillbrook.
