AN EVICTION is being sought after travellers moved onto land at a closed store.
A spokesperson for Oxfordshire County Council said the council’s Gypsy and Traveller service, and its partnership agencies, have been in contact with the landowner of the premises.
Travellers appeared at the site of the former Countrywide Store in Ducklington Lane, Witney earlier this week.

The council spokesperson said an eviction was being sought through the courts and that the landowner has also sought advice on how to further defend the location to prevent any further incursion.
The spokesperson said: “It is a timely reminder to landowners and business properties that are at present unoccupied, to ensure that that their premises and car parks are secure against incursions.”
