GP surgeries warned people to stay vigilant about fake invitations to have the Covid-19 vaccination, sent by fraudsters.

Newbury and Church Street practices in Wantage were forced to put out a public disclaimer on Facebook after a number of residents received a dangerous fake email.

Both sites revealed that they had some queries on Monday regarding the scam emails circulating about Covid-19 jabs.

In a statement, they said: "We would like to assure all patients that we will not contact them by email to invite them for vaccinations.

"Currently, we are contacting eligible patients by telephone or text message."
