GRAND plans for the future of the large-scale vaccine centre set up at the home of Oxford United Football Club were revealed yesterday.
Chief executive of Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust Dr Nick Broughton, who steered morale during the second day at the Kassam Stadium, confirmed that going forward, the number of people being vaccinated will increase every day, with the aim to reach between 8,000 and 10,000 a week.
Dr Broughton highlighted this will be a 'huge contribution' to the local vaccination programme.
Speaking about the role of the football stadium, he said: "I think this centre will be open for a number of months.

"The aim is to vaccinate the entire population and to do that as quickly as possible, so that is going to take some time.
"We are making good progress but there are obviously a lot of people still to be vaccinated and then we need to think about what happens next.
"The other thing to remember is that we need to administer two doses of the vaccine, which are separated by 12 weeks."

Dr Broughton revealed his next injection is on April 19.
This means that the Kassam Stadium will be opened as a vaccine hub until then at least and 'far beyond'.
The CEO was not able to confirm whether the stadium will be used again in the next flu season.
