Whether you sat next to them in class or attended a few years later - you never know who might have gone on to have a glittering career in sports, music or more.

Here are some of the famous faces that attended schools in Oxford:

Freya Allan

Freya Allan is a 19-year-old actress best known for her role as Princess Cirilla of Cintra in the Netflix series The Witcher. 

Born in Oxfordshire where she attended Headington School. Later she studied at the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield.

Singer, songwriter and musician Andy Bell was born in Wales but raised in Oxfordshire.

He is best known for his work with the bands Ride, Hurricane #1, Oasis, and Beady Eye.

Bell formed Ride with Mark Gardener who he knew from attending Cheney School.

The band also included Laurence Colbert and Steve Queralt, who he met doing Foundation Studies in Art and Design at Banbury in 1988.

Emilia Clarke

Mega star Emilia Clark was also educated in Oxford, she attended Rye St Antony Independent School in Headington. 

She rose to fame with her role as  Daenerys Targaryen in the HBO epic fantasy television series Game of Thrones. She gained four Primetime Emmy Award nominations for this role. 

Clarke has also featured in  Solo: A Star Wars Story,  Last Christmas. 

She has also been on Broadway as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's in 2013. She also played Nina in the West End production of The Seagulls in 2020 before it was suspended due to the pandemic. 

Jonathan Bailey

Born in Wallingford and  raised in Benson, Bailey attended Magdalen College School in Oxford.

He also attended a dance club in Henley-on-Thames, through which he auditioned for and landed an alternating role in the 1995 Royal Shakespeare Company production of A Christmas Carol at the Barbican Theatre in London when he was about seven-years-old. 

The gorgeous actor is probably now best known for his role as Viscount Anthony Bridgerton in the Netflix period drama series Bridgerton that has captivated the nation.

Bailey has had a variety of roles from TV to film and stage. He won a Laurence Olivier Award for his portrayal of Jamie in the 2018 West End revival of Company.

His television work includes the ITV drama Broadchurch and the CBBC series Leonardo. 

Yannis Philippakis

Born in Greece, Yannis Philippakis is the frontman of the indie rock band Foals. 

He lived in Greece until he was four then moved to South Africa for a year.

He attended Magdalen College School where he took classes in French, literature and art - due to personal troubles he was suspended twice.

Later he studied English literature at  St John's College, Oxford but dropped out before completing his degree to focus on the band.
