Citizens concerned about the growth of Costa Coffee should note that Costa Coffee in Summertown, Oxford, is displaying Happy 1st Birthday signs all over its premises.
But don't worry, they are not celebrating the birthday of one of its toddler customers - they are congratulating themselves on being in Summertown for a whole year.
One wonders how many more years of surly staff, staff shortages during the mornings, inflated prices and delayed openings we will have to put up with.
One hopes that the owners of the Marks & Spencer coffee shop opposite will take note - if they opened earlier, they could take a lot of trade away from The Good Ship Costa.
Ask yourselves what sort of outlet wishes itself Happy Birthday.
It is interesting that none of its long-suffering customers have offered such recognition.
