A DANGEROUS driver has been jailed after what the judge described as the ‘worst’ driving he had ‘ever seen’.
Andrew Wall ‘repeatedly rammed’ a woman’s vehicle ‘again and again and again’ in an ‘utterly appalling’ attack on October 22 last year.
The 39-year-old, of Beech Road, Eynsham, had been bailed by police the previous day after assaulting the same woman twice.
Dressed in a grey sweater, Wall appeared over video link from prison at Oxford Crown Court last week to be sentenced for driving dangerously, criminal damage and two counts of assault by beating.
Prosecutor Ellie Sheahan played an audio clip of the screaming victim on the phone to 999 while her car was getting destroyed and described how she has been left ‘constantly anxious’ and ‘scared’ to drive.
Defending, Alexandra Bull told the judge that he had always dreamed of becoming a father after raising his step-daughter from a previous abusive relationship but when his girlfriend lost their child last year ‘things took its toll’.
She read statements from family, who described how he had been ridden with grief when his brother and father died within months of each other and how he had been left to care for his mother who is recovering from cancer.
His brother-in-law also described the ‘selfless act’ of Wall donating his kidney to him in 2018.
Ms Bull also described how he had been sentenced for crimes when he was younger and it was just ‘juvenile behaviour’.
Sentencing Judge Nigel Daly said: “It’s all very well to describe it as juvenile behaviour but he would have been 25 at the time.”
He told Wall: “Your behaviour was utterly appalling.
“You repeatedly rammed her vehicle again and again and again. It is one of the worst bits of driving I have ever seen.
“It was utterly appalling and despite mitigation you are a risk and danger to the public.”
He said he presented as a ‘problematic person’ and he had repeatedly flouted previous orders made by the courts.
Wall was sentenced to 13 months in prison, of which he will serve half.
He will be disqualified from driving for three years and five months and must pay compensation of £1,450.84.
He is also the subject of a restraining order banning him from areas in Witney indefinitely.
