OXFORDSHIRE will be hit by Storm Bella on Boxing Day.
The Met Office has issued a Yellow weather warning which will be in place from 3pm on Saturday until midday on Sunday.
Winds are expected to reach up to 53mph on Saturday night into Sunday morning.
Here is the weather forecast this weekend:
- Friday: Clear changing to partly cloudy in the afternoon. Highs of 4C. Wind gust speeds of 21mph.
- Saturday: Yellow weather warning for wind. Highs of 9C. Wind gust speeds of 31mph at midday, 36mph at 3pm, 39mph at 6pm and 46mph at 9pm.
- Sunday: Yellow weather warning for wind. Thunder expected in the morning. Highs of 8C. Wind gust speeds of 53mph down to 38mph between midnight and 6am and 26mph from 9am.
The Met Office has warned people to expect:
- Road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible
- Some roads and bridges may close
- Power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage
- Injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties
- Some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs, could happen
