EMERGENCY services raced to two house fires yesterday that could have been ‘avoided’.
At 5.28am, firefighters from Witney and Oxford were called to a fire that had started when food was left cooking in the oven overnight.
The second, later that afternoon at 3.15pm, had been caused by a discarded cigarette in a waste bin.
Writing on Facebook, Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue said: “On both occasions, these calls could have been avoided by following safety advice we have on our website.”
In an emergency always call 999.
