There have been 10 deaths in the last seven days at the John Radcliffe's hospital trust of patients who tested positive for coronavirus.

A further three deaths were announced today in figures published by NHS England at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUH).

Two took place on Sunday and the other on Saturday.

It means between December 14 and 20 the death toll at the trust, which also runs the Churchill, Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre and Banbury's Horton General Hospital, went up by 10.

Since the pandemic started there have been 225 fatalities at the trust of patients who tested positive for Covid-19.

The number of people being treated at OUH with Covid has also gone up in the latest available figures.

As of Tuesday, there were 83 patients who had tested positive for coronavirus – up from 67 the same time a week prior.

Last week's figures were also up from 43 as of December 1 and mean virus patients have almost doubled in two weeks at the trust.

There are currently eight patients in serious enough condition to be on ventilation.
