POLICE have 'stepped up patrols' as CSI teams investigate a house where a gun was fired last night.
At around 9.30pm a group pulled up to Sinclair Avenue, Banbury, in a car that looked like a VW Tiguan.
A number of shots were fired outside of a house.
Nobody was injured.
Investigators say it is 'concerning' but they do not think there was danger to the public.
Senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Larry Johnson, Crime Manager for Cherwell and West Oxfordshire, said: “This is a concerning incident and as a result we are carrying out a thorough investigation following a number of lines of enquiry, and the premises and scene are being searched by special trained officers and our CSI teams.
“We are keeping an open mind as to the reasons behind this incident, but at this time we do not believe there was a wider danger to the public.
“Our patrols we will be stepped up in the area and members of the public will see an increased police presence whilst we conduct our enquiries.
“We would ask anyone who has information or may have CCTV footage to please get in touch if they feel they may be able to assist our investigation.
“Anyone with information should call 101 or go online quoting reference 43200433463.
“Or if you wish to report 100% anonymously you can do so by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
