A WARNING has been issued after over 100 reports of a fraud where scammers pretend to be police officers.
Victims have reported the tactic, whereby they were called by someone impersonating a police officer.
The fraudster uses the name Eric Shaw and gives over their badge number in order to appear trustworthy to victims.

Victims are then asked to move money to a ‘secure bank account’ until they are sent a new National Insurance number.
In reality, their money is being transferred into an account under the criminal’s control.
In the past 24 hours, Action Fraud has received 120 reports of this courier fraud.
Banks and police will never call to ask to verify personal details or PIN by phone, or offer to pick up a bank card by courier.
