A SPORTS team in Oxford is being investigated over claims that players shared explicit photos of female students, which were then ‘rated’.

Oxford Brookes University was forced to take action after a screenshot of a private message emerged, alleging that members of the Oxford Brookes Rugby Union Football Club had tried to 'get as many nudes from Brookes girls as possible’ during a virtual social event.

Details of the alleged social emerged after confession page @brookesconfessions shared a screenshot of the now-deleted message on Instagram.

The message, seen by the Oxford Mail, said: “During lockdown there was a rugby club social where everyone had to try and get as many nudes from Brookes girls as possible, then they were shared with everyone and we voted for the best pictures.”

If the rugby players are found to have shared private photos without consent they could face prosecution under revenge porn laws.

A spokesperson for Oxford Brookes said: “The university is aware of allegations circulating on social media.

"We take such allegations extremely seriously and are investigating them as a matter of urgency.”

The rugby club also confirmed it is looking into the allegations.

In a Facebook post, the Oxford Brookes Students' Union said: “We were horrified by the allegations posted to social media about a Brookes sports team, as well as some of the subsequent comments made on various social media platforms. We are taking this incredibly seriously.”
