ALMOST 200 new Covid cases have been recorded in the county in a day as it was revealed weekly infections have also jumped sharply.
According to Public Health England, as of 9am Wednesday, these were the number of new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours;
- Oxford - 82
- Oxfordshire - 193
- UK - 25,161
The total coronavirus cases since the pandemic started;
- Oxford - 3,958
- Oxfordshire - 12,164
- UK - 1,913,277
Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.
A further 612 people were reported to have died within 28 days of a positive Covid-19 test on Wednesday.
It takes the UK death toll to 65,520.
It comes as it was revealed coronavirus cases across the county have gone up by almost 50 per cent in a week.
In the seven days to December 11 there were 862 new cases in the county.

This was a rise from the 579 infections found in Oxfordshire the week before and gives the county an overall infection rate per 100,000 people of 124.6.
While all areas of the county saw an increase, Oxford had the slowest growth in infections.
It had 271 new cases in week to December 11, up from 202.
This brings the city's infection rate to 177.8 and is a 34 per cent increase.
The biggest jump was in West Oxfordshire, which went from 48 cases to 90, though it still has the lowest infection rate in the county at 81.3.
