MORE than 50 new Covid cases have been recorded in Oxfordshire as the UK's virus death toll went up by 600.
According to Public Health England, as of 9am Tuesday, these were the number of new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours;
- Oxford - 20
- Oxfordshire - 59
- UK - 12,282
The total coronavirus cases since the pandemic started;
- Oxford - 3,575
- Oxfordshire - 10,979
- UK - 1,737,960
Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.
A further 616 people were reported to have died within 28 days of a positive Covid-19 test on Tuesday.
It takes the UK death toll to 62,033.
The latest available figures show there are 14,807 people in hospital with coronavirus, of these 1,271 are in serious enough condition to be on ventilation.
In the South East, there were 1,509 people in hospital with Covid-19, and 113 on ventilation.

The most recent NHS England figures show as of Tuesday, December 1, there were 43 people in hospital with Covid at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, down from 58 the week before.
Globally, there have now been nearly 68 million confirmed Covid cases, with the US continuing to record the most cases at almost 15 million and largest death toll at more than 284,000.
The worldwide death toll is currently more than 1.5 million people, with the UK recording the seventh highest number of cases and fifth highest deaths.
