MORE than 100 new Covid cases have been recorded in Oxfordshire within a day as a new hospital death was confirmed.
According to Public Health England, as of 9am Monday, these were the number of new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours;
- Oxford - 35
- Oxfordshire - 110
- UK - 14,718
The total coronavirus cases since the pandemic started;
- Oxford - 3,555
- Oxfordshire - 10,920
- UK - 1,737,960
Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.
Another Covid death was announced at Oxford University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, taking the death toll there to 210.
A further 189 people were reported to have died within 28 days of a positive Covid-19 test on Monday.
It takes the UK death toll to 61,434.
There were also 21 new Covid infections found at Oxford University last week as students begin to travel home.
Covering the seven days to Friday, December 4, the positive tests were confirmed by the university’s own testing service and published yesterday. This was from 103 tests and gave a weekly positivity rate of 20.4 per cent.
There has been a total of 1,062 coronavirus cases at the university since it started testing on August 20.
New cases hit a peak at the end of October with more than 200 cases in one week.
A student travel window is currently in place until Wednesday. Oxford University has been carrying out tests on students before they leave the city.
