EXTINCTION REBELLION activists will be holding an event this Saturday to draw attention to Oxford City Council’s spending on climate change and the environment.
From 11am to 1pm on Saturday, the group will be at Headington Crossroads and Headington Market encouraging the public to write to their councillors to up the funds spent on tackling climate issues.
The activists are also hoping to discuss with the public the United Nations Climate Change conference taking place next year.

Hazel Dawe, a member of Oxford Extinction Rebellion, said: “Councils are still debating and consulting upon their budgets for the next financial year, and Extinction Rebellion wants more people to write to their councillors.
“Specifically, giving priority to the climate and ecological emergencies in council spending is paramount at this time.
“Governments will be participating in the delayed climate conference in Glasgow in November 2021.

“So far, very few of them have improved upon the limited goals they set themselves in the Paris Agreement, despite accumulating scientific evidence that they should.
“Extinction Rebellion wants people to write to their MPs about this, both to improve the UK Government targets and timescales, and to increase UK Aid supporting developing countries to meet better climate goals.”
