Youngsters braved the rain to take part in face painting and mug painting activities at the first Cowley Community Fun Day.
David Layen, of Emmanuel Church, which meets at Magdalen College School every Sunday, organised the event in marquees at Manzil Way gardens yesterday.
Despite the wet weather, more than 150 attended the fun day, which was opened by Lord Mayor John Tanner.
Mr Layen said: "The wet weather definitely put some people off but everyone who came along seemed to enjoy it and there was a really good community spirit.
"This event was a bit of a taster to see if we should stage the day again - perhaps we will hold it in the summer next time."
