Edamame first shut in the start of March for seven months, but then closed again on October 19 after just two weeks of trade.
In a heartfelt post on social media Mr Galpin said: "After much consideration we have decided to reopen Edamame on January 6 - local regulations and Covid-19 permitting.
"It has been a miserable year for so many people, but we wish you many enjoyable moments during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
"We look forward very much to once more serving you our home cooked style Japanese food in January, and we hope that you will stay healthy and safe in the meantime."
After a please from the many fans of Japanese cuisine in Oxford, the owner also confirmed that the restaurant will begin doing takeaways.
People will be able to collect takeaway orders at pre-booked timing slots, or order at the door.
