It is always the celebrities who gain public recognition and take the accolades.
Often we forget the hard-working people who make a difference behind the scenes.
One such person is grandmother Margaret Simons, who founded Bardwell Football Club in Bicester in 1964, has held virtually every administrative post and is still involved at the grand age of 86.
Thanks to her, thousands of youngsters have enjoyed football.
She has already landed one award for being an unsung hero of sport.
Now she is in the running for the national title in the BBC Sports Personality of the Year ceremony tomorrow.
We wish her well. Sport could do with more inspired leaders like her.
