Forget holidays, old schoolfriends, or even love, Oxford's Internet surfers are searching for David Cameron.

A survey by search engine Google reveals the Witney MP and leader of the Conservatives was the 'Most Googled' search in Oxford during 2007.

Write 'David Cameron MP' in Google, and you will register 1,580,000 hits.

Top of the list is the MP's official website, located at www.davidcameronmp.com, where you can find pictures of him shaking hands with pensioners in Woodstock, talking 'street' with sixth formers in Eynsham and riding a miniature train at the Cotswold Wildlife Park.

You can also watch Web Cameron, the MP's own daily Internet diary, and maybe catch a glimpse of him feeding the baby while preparing for Prime Minister's Questions.

Scroll further down the list of David Cameron-themed websites and things start to get a little strange.

Among the reams of speeches and public appearances, one site uses his name to make anagrams - coming up with 'Darn Mad Voice', 'Avoid Cam Nerd' and 'Am Over Candid'.

Another, which lists lookalikes for politicians, suggests the leader of the Opposition looks like the android Mr Data, from Star Trek: The Next Generation.

You're not someone unless you have your own Wikipedia - a encyclopedia written by its users - page on the web, and Mr Cameron's reveals he is a distant cousin of the Queen.

While Mr Cameron's Desert Island Disc website lists Ernie - The fastest Milkman in the West, by Benny Hill, as one of his favourite tunes.

And if he was to Google his own name, he might be looking to see how well his party is faring in the opinion polls.

But, while he's number one with Oxford surfers, it's a different matter up north. Most Googled in Gateshead? - Gordon Brown.
