Football Shirt Friday runs every year on November 20 to raise cash and awareness for bowel cancer.

The idea is that fans will wear their team colours, take a selfie, and donate £5 to Cancer Research’s Bobby Moore Fund.

Bobby Moore, who was England’s captain when they won the 1966 World Cup, died in 1993 aged 51 after a battle with bowel cancer.

Since his death supporters have raised more than £27million and death rates for bowel cancer have fallen by more than 30 per cent.

But Cancer Research says the disease still claims the lives of 45 people in the UK every day.

Using the hashtag #FootballShirtFriday on social media, hundreds of people and clubs have already got involved.
