MUSICIANS are needed to take a central role in the annual Scout and Guide spectacular that is the Oxford Gang Show.
Organisers of the 2008 event, which will take place in March, are putting together an orchestra to accompany the spectacular cabaret-style show.
Director Kim Griffiths, who is in charge for the second year running, said: "It's open basically to anyone of grade six and above who can read music.
"The band is a vital part of the show."
Auditions for the acting, singing and dancing parts were held in October and many of the main roles have already been selected, with rehearsals getting under way.
Mrs Griffiths said: "It's going absolutely brilliantly.
"We have had some amazing young talents coming through this year and we are hoping to find young, talented people who want to come and have a go for the orchestra."
The orchestra needs pianists, guitar and bass guitar players, a drummer, effects keyboard players, flautists, clarinettists, saxophonists, trumpet players and trombonists.
The auditions will be held at the Scout and Guide Hall in Dunstan Road, Headington, at 3.30pm on Sunday, December 16.
Musicians are asked to bring their own music stand and instrument.
People intending to audition should email Mrs Griffiths on kim.griffiths@oxfordgangshow.org.uk Rehearsals will take place every Wednesday, with Sunday rehearsals closer to the show.
