James Povey said: “Same predicament as the flu vaccine when that was first arrived, before my time mind! Everyone was iffy what it would do, you need to appreciate the fact that if it wasn’t safe, and held more positives than negatives, it wouldn’t be up in the air with a possible release. People need to stick with what they know and leave the professionals to what they know.”
Julia Giddins said: “I’m astounded that so many of the younger generation are sceptical about the vaccine and yet frequently [take] drugs without knowing anything about their origin, content or effect. Ironic isn’t it.”
Kevin Elliot said: “The vaccine will be far safer than the virus. Especially if you’re in an at-risk category.”
Stephen Easter said: “Yes I will [get the vaccine] if it helps stop the third wave and fourth as this virus will go on and on.”
Barrie Grant agreed, saying: “Of course, it can save your life.”
Tony Williams also added: “Yes deffo, if you had Covid it’s not nice as I know at this present time.”

Mark Dyson said he would too, adding: “But I fear too many people who think they are safe from Covid won’t, completely forgetting (or just not caring) that the vaccine doesn’t just protect them but everyone else they could pass it on to who could be seriously affected by the virus. Unless enough people get the vaccine to provide real herd immunity, we’ll never leave this cycle of lockdowns and huge economic damage and deaths.”
William O’Donnell joked: “Inject me now, I am very much looking forward to growing an extra arm to help me with the household chores.”
Others said they were desperate for life to get back to normal.
Rachael Weller said: “In a heartbeat if I can hug my parents and granddaughters again.”
Tony Trafford added: “You’d be a fool not to.”
Some people were sceptical, asking MPs like Boris Johnson to ‘go first’.

James Tyrrell said: “Once I’ve seen all the members of the Government and all their family members including children take it then I might consider it.”
Other readers questioned the safety features, which haven’t yet been given the green-light.
Kirsty Troth said: “Probably not, it’s a rushed vaccine and could have long term effects.”
Bianca Gardner added: “No, I’ll wait a little while just to make sure people are not growing more limbs before I have it.”
Ari Smith was also dubious, commenting: “New vaccines need to be tested for years before they are safe to test on humans, why is this no longer the case.”
But Daniel Streva said the Government had pumped lots of money into the companies working on the vaccine.
He said: “Simply because of the urgency many things have been expedited, lots of money invested so that many more people could work on this and put extra hours on it. Another point is that coronaviruses are nothing new and had been mapped before already.”
The Facebook post had a mixed reaction with 37 people saying they would get the vaccine, simply commenting 'yes'.
Another 32 people said they wouldn’t get the vaccine if they could.
