The leader of Oxford's cycling campaign group Cyclox is urging drivers to give cyclists more room on the road.
Dr Alison Hill spoke out after she was subjected to what she calls a driver's 'punishment pass', where a motorist deliberately drives too close to a cyclist to shake them up.

She said drivers needed to be more aware of the need to share road space with cyclists.
Dr Hill added: "There were three of us cycling and a car did what we call a punishment pass - he came within much less than a metre - it was deliberately close and so frightening."

The cycling campaigner, who has been in charge of Cyclox for the past two years, added that the group wanted to represent all the new cyclists who have taken to the roads since lockdown started as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
She added: "Cyclox has recently become a charity, which means we can fundraise and get sponsorship, donations and grants for different projects."
Dr Hill said a Bikes for Key Workers project which Cyclox initiated with the support of Active Oxfordshire, has provided 350 bikes for key workers, many of them nurses and health workers.
The old bikes have been fixed so they can be used again, with Cyclox providing 270 of them.
Dr Hill said the group, working with the Oxford Mail, wants to hear from cyclists about their experiences on the roads.

She spoke out about cars coming too close to cyclists after Lib Dem candidate and mother Katherine Miles, took to Twitter to post a video of herself in shock after she was the victim of 'an aggressive driver' on Warneford Lane in Headington.
In July Ms Miles was riding home with her two children down Warneford Lane when police officers told her it wasn’t safe to be cycling in rush hour because drivers can be aggressive.
After this incident Ms Miles said: “They were very kind and considerate but I think this just shows the issue we are facing at the moment that I am here with my small children in their bikes and we’re just trying to cycle home from nursery and we’ve been advised it’s not safe with Oxford traffic."

This week the mother was cycling to pick up her child from nursery along the same road, when a driver behind her started swearing and 'tooting' its horn for the entire stretch of road.

At the junction between Warneford Lane and Roosevelt Road the driver told the cyclist to get in the cycle lane to which Ms Miles replied she couldn't because it was unsafe.

Green city councillor and cycling champion Dick Wolff said: "On this short stretch of road we have a dangerous cycle lane that requires the prudent cyclist to move into the centre of the carriageway to avoid being 'doored' by someone exiting a parked car."
On November 3 a woman cyclist was killed in a collision with a bin lorry on Horspath Driftway.
The incident happened at around 8.50am near Aldi in Headington.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the circumstances are being investigated by the traffic police.
