Pop legend Jason Donovan is continuing his support for Oxford's Children Hospital by opening a festive fundraising event at a toy shop.

The Australian-born soap and reality TV star, who lives in Uffington, near Wantage, will greet fans at the sale in Bicester.

The 38-year-old actor and singer, who came third in last year's I'm a Celebrity...Get me out of Here, will be special guest at a fun day at Bicester Toys and Nursery, in Sheep Street, next Saturday, which is donating five per cent of its profits to the hospital.

The event is the latest fundraiser supported by Mr Donovan, who has acted as an ambassador for the £30m hospital, part of the £130m West Wing at the John Radcliffe, in Headington.

Earlier this year he presented the hospital with more than £36,000, which was raised by viewers voting in last year's I'm A Celebrity. . .Get Me Out of Here.

In March he acted as official starter of the OX5 Run, at Blenheim Palace - which also raises money for the children's hospital.

At next Saturday's event, children will be able to enjoy a range of activities including face painting and colouring competitions.

Mr Donovan, who is a family friend of store owner Jason Messenger, is expected to attract a large crowd when the event opens at 9.30am.

Mr Messenger, of Frilford Road, Oxford, said: "Having Jason agree to come to the shop and help us raise money for the children's hospital is brilliant.

"I'm hoping to raise as much as £4,000 throughout the day - and I'm sure Jason will attract a lot of attention.

"I wanted to raise money for the children's hospital because I have two young children and I think it is such a worthwhile cause.

Mr Messenger, who took over the toy shop in June, also has three flower shops, called Jason's Flowers, in Botley, Witney and Wantage, and a Thorntons franchise in Wiltshire.

The 34-year-old, who has seven-year-old twins, Olivia and James, will also be donating toys to the campaign.

In October, Mr Donovan met fans at Borders bookshop, in Magdalen Street, Oxford, to sign copies of his autobiography Between The Lines - My Story Uncut, which charts his journey from Neighbours in the 1980s, to his present life as a married father of two.
