POLICE tonight renewed an appeal for information on a crash in which a 79-year-old woman died.
It has been just over a month since Mrs Doreen Swift, of Buckland, died in a collision on the B4508 and police are re-appealing for a driver to come forward who may be able to help with their enquiries.
Officers investigating are keen to speak to a woman who was in a dark blue car, which could possibly have been a Volkswagen Golf. The woman stopped at the scene and she spoke with a Canadian or American accent.
The incident happened at about 9.45am on the B4508 between Hatford and Gainfield, just past the Stanford in the Vale turning and opposite the Grey Fox Racing Stables, on October 31.
A blue Renault Master van was travelling in the direction of Gainfield from Hatford and a silver Peugeot 106 travelling in the opposite direction, when they collided.
A woman, the driver of the Peugeot, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the van, a man aged 19, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or has any information which could help the police with their enquiries is urged to contact PC Roy Fuller based at Abingdon police station via 0845 8 505 505. If you don't want to talk to the police or give your name, call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
