A VIBRANT Halloween display was created by residents of a care home in South Oxfordshire to give children a half-term treat.

The display, which forms part of this year’s pumpkin hunt in Abingdon, was made possible by Bridge House residents John Struggles, 96, and his partner, Edna Busby, 95, who built the scarecrow couple at the centre.

Mr Struggles, who is a talented local artist, also painted the individual rainbows as a 'thank you' to key workers on the frontline of the pandemic.

Explaining why he took on the project he commented: “It has been a wonderfully absorbing project and we hope that all the residents and the children in the community enjoy our display.

“We have so enjoyed making the scarecrows and the rainbows.”
