THE first ever network of young tutors in the UK has been created to help with GCSE resits.
Students retaking exams next month are being tutored online by fellow youngsters, with funding from Oxford-based Activate Learning.
The education group has partnered with peer tutoring organisation Yipiyap to create a system that connects students with a tutor of their choice.
Up to 600 students across Activate Learning’s seven colleges, including Banbury and Bicester College, and City of Oxford College, are set to benefit.

Twenty tutors from across the UK will each provide two days a week of support, having themselves recently completed their A-levels.
Anne Haig-Smith, director of the Applied Learning Foundation at Activate Learning, said: “The beauty of this project is that it’s young people working with our students and helping them to better understand the material they are studying.
“We are really excited to see how the project develops and how our students get on.”
Anne Morris, founder of Yipiyap, added: “Peer teaching has generated proven results as the tutors are so close in age and relatable, they can help bring a bit of fun to the process, which is needed as most of the maths and English GCSE students don’t enjoy the subject in question.”
