I agree with Peter Collett about parking problems in The Slade at Headington, Oxford (Oxford Mail, November 28).
I and other ward councillors from Lye Valley and Wood Farm attended a presentation from Oxfordshire County Council on October 8 at Wood Farm community centre about the introduction of residents' parking permits for this area.
We all agreed that we do not see why residents, who are not affected by this problem, should pay for permits.
Only a few residents and roads have trouble with parking.
With further developments at the Churchill Hospital, it might get worse in the future.
The county council is surveying the area to see what roads are affected and counting how many vehicles there are in the early morning and later in the day.
As councillors who represent the residents of this area, we do not want to see the county council implement this 'pay to park outside your house' policy, until a full investigation has taken place and ALL residents are given the chance to air their views.
Residents' parking permits will not be free, although we would like them to be, so let's get it right first time and only allow implementation if the majority agree.
BOB TIMBS (Councillor) Lye Valley ward Oxford City Council
