BURGLARS broke into a caravan being lived in by flood victims then took the owners' car and wrecked it.
A caravan at Chaunterell Way in Abingdon was burgled overnight on Friday, police said today.
Burglars stole mobile phones, wallets, keys and alcohol then used the keys to take a red Rover 400 from the driveway.
The stolen car was later reported to the police as abandoned at 7.30pm the following day in Cumnor Road, Wootton.
It was badly damaged and thought to have been involved in a collision.
Det Con Rob Underhill said: "This is a distressing incident for the owners of the property who are staying in the caravan while their house is being refurbished due to the summer floods.
"The stolen Rover has been involved in a substantial collision and it is possible that this could have been witnessed or that someone may have seen the Rover before it was abandoned in the area."
