AN OXFORD school is dealing with a second case of coronavirus within a four-day period.

Last Sunday, parents at Matthew Arnold School were alerted to a confirmed case of Covid-19, with this followed up with another case on Thursday.

A letter seen by the Oxford Mail and sent to families on Thursday states: “We know that you may find this concerning but we are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England.”

The letter adds that most students will have had no contact in school with the person who has tested positive.

Parents and carers of the ‘small number of students’ who have been in close contact with the individual have been contacted and informed their child must stay at home for 14 days.

The school remains open for all other students.

The earlier email confirmed the first case, again with an individual who had contact with a ‘small number of students’.

Similarly, those children who had been in contact with the individual were told to stay at home for 14 days.
