A rise in coronavirus cases across Oxfordshire has seen the county reach 'red alert' level this week.

It is triggered when cases reach more than 50 per 100,000 people.

Oxford's most recent rolling seven-day rate of new cases of Covid-19 to October 6 has the city at more than double this - 118.7 based on 181 positive tests.

See the full list below

But with a surge in cases across the country, the city, which is the worst impacted part of Oxfordshire, does not reach the top 50 for local authorities in England and is currently 83rd.

Though, as Oxfordshire's director of public health Ansaf Azhar has previously said, these things can change 'in the blink of an eye'.

The figures are based on tests carried out in laboratories (pillar one of the Government’s testing programme) and in the wider community (pillar two).

Data for the most recent three days (October 7-9) has been excluded as it is incomplete and likely to be revised.

Nottingham continues to have the highest rate in England, with 2,532 new cases recorded in the seven days to October 6 – the equivalent of 760.6 cases per 100,000 people.

This is a huge jump from 158.3 per 100,000 in the seven days to September 29.

Here is the list in full.
