A BICESTER councillor has thanked contractors for a much-needed trim of an overgrown hedge.

Town councillor Les Sibley had asked the county council to carry out the work in Shakespeare Drive, Bicester, after concerns that the hedges blocked drivers visibility at junctions in the street.

He said: "I would like to thank OCC Highways Contractors for the excellent work in the cutting back of overgrown vegetation on the grass verge between Bleinhem Drive and Lawrence Way on Shakespeare Drive.

"The clearing of vegetation in particular from the corner of Lawrence Way has helped to improve visibility issues for both motorists and pedestrians alike.

"In addition I would like to thank the team for their hard work in clearing vegetation from the many footpaths, cycleways and grass verges throughout Bicester."

Mr Sibley has also asked the county council to install a new 'all weather' bus shelter at the existing bus stop on the T-junction of Greenwood Drive and Shakespeare Drive.

The bus shelter would offer not only protection from the elements but a seating rail for waiting passengers.
