A POPULAR Indian takeaway was recognised as 'Hero of West Oxfordshire' by Witney MP Robert Courts.
Eastern Cuisine that is based on Burwell Drive was praised for its response to the pandemic after the restaurant delivered more than 5,000 meals during lockdown to healthcare workers at Witney Community Hospital, and any vulnerable people in the area who need help.
Mr Courts congratulated the owner of Eastern Cuisine Asad Ahmed for being nominated for the award and thanked him for his 'heroic' response.

In a post on social media Mr Ahmed thanked the community for the nomination and added: "A massive thank you to all those who nominated Eastern Cuisine for this recognition.
"The team at Eastern Cuisine feel very emotional and honoured.
"Every member of the team played a big part, from prepping to cooking, packing to delivering.
"Honestly, our actions were made from the bottom of our hearts for our community, who support us every day in our business."
