ANOTHER high street shop will be closing down in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. 

M&Co in Abingdon announced it would be shutting its doors for the last time in a month.

The chain already announced the closures of the 47 stores after entering administration in August. 

Four shops in Oxfordshire were shut: Witney, Kidlington, Bicester and Wantage. 

Oxford Mail: Now the popular branch in Market Place is set to close leaving hundreds of loyal customers disappointed. 

Sue Thrussell O Connor, who works at M&Co, wrote on the Abingdon Facebook Page: "This lovely friendly store has been another casualty of covid. We will be losing this old friend in just four weeks." 

She urged customers to be friendly in the shop, saying: "I know it's going to be a blow to regular customers, but the next few weeks will not be easy for the girls [shop staff] please give them your appreciation rather than Your discontent."

The post was flooded with more than 100 comments. 

Karen Doble said: "I have been shopping here since it was Hammells back in1997! So sad to see it go." 

Stephie Woodward added: "Oh dear! That’s such a shame! All the girls in there have become friends over the years.....will really miss them! shops in Abingdon are disappearing at an alarming rate! I know we can buy on the internet, but not everyone has access to it....and it’s soo nice to chat to people...really will miss you all..good luck for your future."

Cindy Gillett said the shop was perfect for women 'of a certain age'. 

Others speculated what the unit would become with Wayne Bentley saying: "Sad news. Probably turn it into another coffee shop or barbers."
