A HOMELESS man in Oxford has been found dead in his tent.
Oxford City Council confirmed a 65-year-old British national who had been sleeping rough since before lockdown was found dead in his tent on Monday.
Councillor Mike Rowley, cabinet member for affordable housing and housing the homeless, said: “We have been clear that nobody should have to sleep rough in Oxford and we have offered emergency accommodation to every single person experiencing rough sleeping in the city since the Government’s ‘everybody in’ direction on March 26.

“The man who has died was offered emergency accommodation during lockdown but he turned this down.
“I would like to extend my condolences to his family and friends. To protect his privacy and out of respect for friends and relatives, the council will make no further comment on this man’s death. We understand that the coroner is notifying next of kin.”
