A WOMAN had a ‘huge chunk of flesh’ torn from her leg during a vicious dog attack while the canine’s owner beat up her partner.

During the explosion of ‘savage’ violence Alan Lobb bit the man’s ear while the woman screamed aloud as the dog sunk its teeth into her.

She has since been left with a permanent deformity as a result of her ‘horrific’ injuries and the dog - Duke - has been 'destroyed'.

Lobb, 37, of Park View, Crowmarsh Gifford, had already admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm and being the owner of a dog dangerously out of control causing injury.

He further admitted a separate offence of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

He was sentenced for those crimes at Oxford Crown Court yesterday.

Outlining the case, prosecutor Edward Culver said the incident took place at a communal area of flats in Wallingford on July 5 last year.

The two victims went to a neighbouring flat to complain at noise being made in the early hours.

After one spoke with a woman Lobb, who was also inside, ‘lunged’ out of the home and began shouting at her, before going on to assault her partner – the male victim.

During that attack Lobb punched the man repeatedly and went on to bite his ear.

The victim’s partner tried to intervene and it was then that Lobb’s dog came out of the flat and set upon her.

The animal repeatedly bit the woman, sinking its teeth into her stomach, her back and her leg.

While she screamed out for help Lobb continued attacking her husband before stopping and restraining the animal, then police were called.

The woman needed surgery for her wounds and the court heard she had been left with a permanent deformity because of the attack.

Detailing the drugs offence, prosecutors said that Lobb was found by police in Abingdon on the night of September 27, 2018, with 24.75g of cocaine, valued at about £2,475, as well as thousands of pounds in cash.

It was also revealed at the hearing that he had 37 previous convictions, including for violent offences.

In mitigation, Michael Goold, defending, said of the dog attack that his client didn’t intervene earlier because 'he was not aware of what was happening'.

Sentencing, Michel Gledhill QC called the dog attack ‘savage’ and said the woman’s injuries were 'horrific'.

Lobb was jailed for a total of 53 months, made up of 20 months for the violent offences consecutive to 33 months for the drugs supply. He was also disqualified from owning dogs for 10 years and must pay a victim surcharge.
