MAJOR police presence was spotted at the John Radcliffe Hospital after an incident last night.
At least three police cars were seen outside the hospital just after 5pm.
A photo taken from one of the wards shows the hospital car park and a gun discarded next to the silver car.
One staff member, who wants to remain anonymous, shared the picture she took with the Oxford Mail.
She said: "You can see the gun in the picture by the silver car."
A 25-year-old man was arrested yesterday and two guns were seized by officers.
One eyewitness Sophie shared her experience on Facebook "I was stood watching everything from a window right above.
"I heard commotion so looked out and there was a man bent over the car and the gun was on the floor."
Abingdon resident Charlie Dixey also commented: "It was was a man with a gun, my son is in that children’s hospital and I panicked when my partner phoned me.
"There are some very dangerous people around."

Several more people reported on social media that there was a 'gunman' outside the West Wing entrance, however, this remains unconfirmed by Thames Valley Police.
One anonymous eyewitness commented that armed police was seen at the hospital and staff were told to stay in the departments where they were working.
One concerned resident tweeted that they saw a 'huge number of police' outside the hospital.
They added that the car park was taped off and that officers were 'emptying the contents of a car into evidence bags'.
I saw a huge number of police outside the west wing entrance and they had the car park taped off. They were emptying the contents of a car into evidence bags. I didn’t know it was a gunman though.
