As we move into December we have selected a mixed case of hearty winter warmers that are the perfect partners for rich and warming dishes such as casseroles, roasts, game and pasta.
The wines are fruit driven with good ripeness and richness while remaining lively and refreshing with aromatic fruit. Perfect for the colder weather.
The rich winter reds mixed case costs £68 and includes three bottles each of the following four wines:
Wild Pig Shiraz 2006, France: The Wild Pig company is based at Chateau Canet in the heart of the Languedoc region of southern France near Carcassonne. The name is rumoured to be based on a pig called Greta who loves eating their grapes. The wine itself is a deep, rich modern style that is bursting with ripe berried fruit and touches of delicious spice.
Erumir Crianza Tinto 2002, Spain: Made by Bodega Can Bonestre in the Penedes region, this is a mixture of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and tempranillo which combine to produce a fragrant, juicy wine with ripe strawberry fruit and a gentle hint of new oak.
Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Colle Morino 2005, Italy: Made from 100 per cent montepulciano, this wine has classic almonds on the nose and is full of fresh vibrant cherry and juicy plum fruit - definitely a cut above many wines from this appellation, with superb depth and fruit.
Lantana Shiraz/Cabernet 2005, Australia: Made by famous winemaker Anthony Murphy at the Trentham Estate in New South Wales, this wine is packed with blackcurrant, plum and red berry flavours with soft mellow fruit and hints of spice on the finish.
