PROTESTERS dressed in red graced the Westgate centre in Oxford to stand against businesses that have 'appalling' environmental and workers' rights policies.
Extinction Rebellion Youth Oxfordshire (XRY Oxfordshire) held the event from Friday to Saturday as part of a host of different demonstrations including a 'die-in'.
Members wanted to 'highlight and denounce' the 'ecocidal' effects of Fast Fashion - inexpensive clothing produced quickly by mass-market retailers in response to latest trends.
Oxfordshire XYR says it is not sustainable for the future of our planet, and is hastening the climate and ecological emergency.

Nineteen-year-old Alex, said: “As lockdown eases, many people are taking time to reflect on the ‘normal’ that they wish to return to.
"With fast fashion producing 10 per cent of global CO2 emissions and using 1.5 trillion litres of water annually, XRY Oxford wants to protest for a more sustainable future where environmental disaster is no longer a ‘normal’.
“Westgate shopping centre epitomises the priority of profit over people and the planet. As young people facing climate and ecological breakdown in the near future, we understand this attitude cannot continue any longer.”
Extinction Rebellion supporters will be extending banners on fossil fuels from 11 bridges in Oxford and Oxfordshire on Friday. The key message will be ‘No future for fossil fuels'.
They will also be at two petrol stations in Oxford; the Shell garage on London Road, Headington and the BP petrol station at Pear Tree.
