A proposed supermarket depot, which will bring 400 jobs to the county, has raised fears of traffic congestion.
The Vale of the White Horse District Council has received a planning application from Asda to build a 450,000sq ft warehouse on land east of Sutton Courtenay Lane.
The move has been welcomed as a major boost for employment in the area, although there are concerns about extra traffic on the roads.
John Flood, leader of Didcot Town Council, said he would have to see more detailed plans before making a comment on the transport implications for the town.
He said: "I think attention must be paid to lorry routing to avoid them going into villages.
"People will be coming here because it is the place to go so from that point of view it is good news."
Proposals for the brownfield site include more than 10,000sq ft of warehouse space, 2,000sq ft of industrial space and 920sq ft of office space.
A Ladygrove resident, who did not want to be named, said: "I think it will be great for jobs for Didcot and Abingdon, but my only concern is that the roads will not cope with the traffic."
