A FAMILY had to be saved by firefighters after strong winds caused their boat to become untethered in Abingdon.
Crews from Didcot, Abingdon and Kidlington fire stations were called to reports of adjoining narrow boats being blown across the River Thames on Friday.

Firefighters were able to resecure the boats and move a family who were onboard one of the vessels to safety.
A yellow weather warning was issued by the Met Office for the entire country until 6pm on Friday. Gusts reached speeds of up to 41mph in Oxfordshire.
