POLICE raided a suspected brothel in North Oxford this afternoon after complaints by neighbours.
Officers smashed through the door to the three-bedroom house in Middle Way, Summertown, at about 1.45pm.
Three women, believed by police to be prostitutes, found inside the house were questioned over suspected human trafficking, but released without charge.
A fourth woman was arrested on suspicion of running a brothel and is in custody.
The raid by 15 officers was carried out as part of a nationwide operation to tackle human trafficking in the illegal sex trade.
Sgt Karl Ralph said police had also received numerous complaints from neighbours and residents including parking problems and noise which had worsened in recent weeks.
One neighbour had recently been assaulted which may be connected to the premises, Sgt Ralph added.
No illegal people trafficking offences are believed to have been committed, he said.
A middle-aged man who was in the property when the police forced their way inside was interviewed and released without charge.
Sgt Ralph is appealing for anyone with complaints or information on the property to contact him via 08458 505505.
