FIREFIGHTERS blocked off part of a city street today after they were called to reports of an underground electrical fire.
Vehicles driving through Headington were forced to wait while the crew from Slade Park Fire Station investigated smoke coming out of a drain at the junction of London Road and Holyoake Road.

A reporter at the scene of the incident, who spoke to the four firefighters attending, said they were waiting for an electrical maintenance crew to examine the scene.
They commented that smoke was coming out of a drain, which often happens when there is an electrical fire.

A spokesperson for Oxfordshire County Council confirmed the reports and added: "Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service attended at 12pm, but did not carry out any action and handed over to the electric company.
"One fire appliance attended from Slade Fire Station."
