A LANDOWNER has been left with the task to evict a group of travellers after they moved in on a private land in Oxfordshire.
A fleet of white caravans set up camp at the green field off of Mill Road in Abingdon on Sunday, according to residents.
Photographs supplied by locals show at least five vehicles at the site, however, passers-by claimed there are six to eight caravans parked in the area.
A spokesperson for Oxfordshire County Council confirmed yesterday that it has been informed of this 'incursion'.
They added: "The land is privately owned and therefore it is the responsibility of the land owner to remove them.

"The county council’s Gypsy and Traveller Service will provide advice to any landowner that has an incursion on their land.
"But on this occasion we have yet to be approached."
There has been an increased presence in Oxfordshire over the last months and MP for Wantage and Didcot David Johnston raised the problem on behalf of his constituents in Parliament last month.
More than a dozen caravans were also pictured at King Alfred's School playing fields in Wantage earlier in August.
The encampment remained there for more two weeks.
