Sir - I was very disappointed not to find any reference this week of the Youth Proms held at the Albert Hall two weeks ago. I was there on Wednesday, November 14, when the Massed Choirs of Oxfordshire were the only choir.
Over 30 schools and choirs were represented, amounting to about 500 children. They sang five songs specially written for them by Richard Stilgoe, all relating to the charity Water Aid.
Howard Goodall, the compere, praised them highly for their excellent singing, their enthusiasm and their behaviour and patience (they had to sit for over two hours before performing). It was a wonderful experience for them and for the packed audience of proud parents and grandparents a thrilling atmosphere. What a shame no mention was made of this in our local paper.
