A woman who ignored an order barring her from harassing and threatening her neighbours has been given a suspended prison sentence.

Aparecida Rocha, aged 56, of Gillett Road in Banbury, was found guilty at Oxford County Court on Thursday of breaching the civil injunction granted under the Antisocial Behaviour Crime & Policing Act 2014.

Rocha had the injunction issued in March of this year, banning her from causing nuisance and annoyance to local residents following incidents of threats and abuse.

At the County Court last Thursday, she was sentenced to four weeks’ imprisonment, suspended until March 10, 2021, when her current injunction is due to expire.

Investigating officer PC Matthew Longman, based at Bicester police station, said: “Rocha was given the injunction in March of this year, and after a short period of time, she then returned to her previous behaviour, causing harassment, alarm and distress to her neighbours on five separate occasions.

“She has showed a flagrant disregard to the injunction."

He added: “Any further incidents of anti-social behaviour by Rocha which are found guilty at court could mean that suspended sentence would be activated and so I hope that she will now realise the consequences of her actions.”

“Thames Valley Police will always seek to protect residents of our local communities where they have been subjected to repeated and sustained incidents of anti-social behaviour.”
