HUNDREDS of people were killed or seriously injured on Oxfordshire's roads last year.
In 2019, 280 people were killed or seriously injured in road traffic accidents in Oxford, new figures from the Department for Transport show.

This was a decrease of 15 per cent on the year before, when there were 328.
Of last year's total, 23 were fatalities – down from 31 the year before.

The figures represent all accidents that happened on a public road and involved at least one vehicle, horse rider or cyclist.
In the last 10 years, from 2009 to 2019, the number of casualties in the county, including serious injuries, fell from 2,268 to 1,389.
Across Britain, 29,588 people were killed or seriously injured last year – a slight decrease on the year before.

The DfT warns against comparing year-on-year figures however, due to changes in 2016 to the way some police forces record the severity of road traffic collusion injuries.
