We, the Bayworth Triangle Committee, were delighted to know that Sister Frances Dominica, founder of Helen and Douglas House hospice in Oxford, was voted Woman of the Year (Oxford Mail, October 10).

Our memories go back to 1982 when Mother Frances, as she was known then, had the idea for Helen House and we said we would support her.

The programme she produced had a picture of a house, drawn by her first patient, Helen. In April 1982, we organised a tea party on Bayworth Green which was well attended by our local residents.

One of our committee, Pat Johnson, made and iced the cake and put a replica of the house on it. Then we handed over some fluffy toys and a cheque for £425.

Thank you, Sister Frances, and your two teams for such devotion and dedication over 25 years.

In the words of Sister Frances, she was the right person in the right place at the right time.
